The task of the Community team is to create the infrastructure for us to open up our development. The Roxen Community, http://community.roxen.com/ is to be the collaborative web site where all Roxen user can get the latest news and releases as well as meet and share ideas. The Community should serve both freeware and commercial Roxen users.

The backbone of the Community is the discussion forums, provided by the LysKOM conferencing system. Discussion forums are to be provided for all issues of interest to Roxen users. Some forums will be open to all, others closed to special groups like alpha testers, Platform customers and developers of black projects.

The Community web site will also host content of interest to Roxen users. Everything from the latest development version of the manuals, articles about how to use RXML and Pike, to real life stories of Roxen usage. All content on the community will be provided for user feedback, so that the release version of manuals has already been tested.

Our cvs server will be integrated with the community, making it possible to grant individual read or write access to parts of the server. That way customers can get the latest version of Platform from the cvs server while developers interested in contributing can get write access.

Furthermore the upgrade server will be resurrected, in a new form. Not only Roxen itself, but any type of extension supported by Roxen will be downloadable through the upgrade server. It won't matter if the extension is a Roxen module, a set of RXML pages, a CGI script or a Java servlett. Installing extensions to Roxen will become even easier.

The upgrade server will also be integrated with the Roxen store system, thereby making it possible to distribute commercial add-ons as well as freeware packages. It is our hope to be able to distribute a large number of add-ons by the release of Roxen 1.4.
